Bach Cantatas - BWV 77, 78 and 80

The cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach are masterpieces of Baroque music, in which text and music are interwoven in a deeply impressive way. Melody, rhythm, articulation and the choice of instruments reflect the different characters of the biblical texts on which they are based. Through expressive musical gestures, Bach lets listeners experience the full spectrum of human emotion in all its depth. Around 200 Bach cantatas have survived. Each semester, students work on several of them under the direction of Raphael Alpermann, performing them in a final concert at the Sophienkirche.

The renowned harpsichordist and Eisler alumnus Raphael Alpermann has been a founding member of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin since 1982 and can be heard as a soloist on many of the ensemble's recordings and concerts. Alongside his extensive concert career, he has taught for many years at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and at the Universität der Künste Berlin.

Christmas Oratorio - Bach

With Bach's "Christmas Oratorio", students of the Eisler are guests at the Nikolaikirche, the oldest church building in Berlin's city center. Composed in Leipzig in 1734/35, the Baroque masterpiece still features every Advent season on the programs of numerous churches and concert halls. The Chorlabor of the Eisler, an ensemble of vocal students and external singers, together with choral conducting students, strings and saxophones, aims to bring tradition and modernity together. Under the artistic direction of choral conductor and Eisler alumnus Jonas Kraft, the students present the audience with a lively interpretation of excerpts from the festive oratorio in new tonal colors.

Dido and Aeneas - Belinda

Dido, reina de Cartago, vive atormentada por presagios que amenazan su historia de amor con Eneas, príncipe de Troya. Belinda, dama de la reina, conmina a esta a dejar a un lado dichos presagios y a disfrutar del amor de su príncipe. Pero, efectivamente, esos presagios de se cumplen, por envidia a la reina, las brujas se confabulan y hacen creer a Eneas que debe partir para refundar Troya. Eneas parte y Dido se deja morir. Conductus Ensemble Fundado en el año 2002 ha ofrecido desde su fundación más de 250 conciertos en escenarios como el Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, el Palacio Euskalduna de Bilbao o el Auditorio Kursaal de San Sebastián;  y en festivales internacionales como el de Toulouse, Froville, Santander, SMR de Cuenca, Torroella, la QMD o FEMAS, interpretando más de 120 programas distintos que incluyen obras maestras que van del Renacimiento al Siglo XX.

The Tales of Offenbach - A Journey to the Moon and Beyond

Who hasn't once had the thought of escaping everyday life? Leaving all school stress behind and the big and small problems of life along with it. How idyllic it would be on a deserted island, how exciting with a real band of robbers or the ancient gods – and what does it actually look like on the moon? The annually newly formed ensemble of the Kinderopernhaus Unter den Linden embarks together with soloists from the Staatsoper on an adventurous journey through the different worlds that Jacques Offenbach's rousing melodies open up in his operettas. On their furious voyage of discovery, they immerse themselves in gripping stories full of wit and imagination.

Guided by a singing grandmother and her memories, Ilargia kantari will journey through various melodies of Basque folk music and famous songs from the extraordinary era when humankind first walked on the moon. The grandmother will share stories about her life and the moon — a runaway from the Earth and sister of the sun, according to Basque mythology. She will intersperse musical pieces, some of which are directly related to the moon.
