Biography

The soprano Ainhoa López de Munain (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1999) began piano lessons at an early age and gained her first musical experiences as a choral singer. Before pursuing vocal studies, she also completed a degree in Music Education at the Higher School of Music of the Basque Country (Musikene). She studied voice at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin with Ewa Wolak, where she is currently enrolled in the Master’s program in Opera.

Her concert repertoire includes, among other works, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle, Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio, Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri, as well as cantatas by Bach and Telemann. In the operatic field she has appeared, among others, as Amore (Orfeo ed Euridice), Rosalia (West Side Story), and Sophie (Die Weiße Rose). A particular artistic focus of her work is the Spanish and Basque song repertoire, which she presents in numerous concert programs. She also made her debut as Rosaura in the zarzuela Los gavilanes by Jacinto Guerrero.

Guest engagements have taken her, among others, to the Quincena Musical in San Sebastián, the International Festival of Santander, the DoSEL Project in Slovenia, and the Semana de Música Religiosa in Cuenca. In 2023 she was a scholarship holder of the Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander; in 2024 she received the Bayreuth Scholarship of the Wagner-Gesellschaft Berlin and performed in this context at a concert at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Highlights of her upcoming engagements include her debut at Kinderopernhaus Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin.
