Biography

Ainhoa López de Munain, soprano from Vitoria-Gasteiz, was recently awarded several prizes at the "Ciudad de Logroño" International Singing Competition, the Corsica Lirica competition and the International Zarzuela Competition in Valleseco. She is currently completing her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin under the guidance of mezzo-soprano Ewa Wolak and pianists Liana Vlad, Matthias Samuil, and Wolfram Rieger.

In recent years, she has had the privilege of refining her training with renowned international masters such as Brigitte Fassbaender, Juliane Banse, Mariella Devia, Anna Samuil, Thomas Quasthoff, and Ulrich Messthaler.

She has participated in numerous concerts, performing major works from the classical repertoire, including Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio, as well as various cantatas by Bach and Telemann, among others. In the operatic field, she has portrayed roles such as Amore in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Aurora in the world premiere of Huber’s opera Es ist über mich ein Wandel gekommen, and Sophie in Zimmermann’s Weiße Rose.

She has worked with prestigious conductors such as Manuel Nawri, Hans Graf, Tobias Walenciak, and Andoni Sierra, performing on important stages including the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, the Kursaal Auditorium in San Sebastián, the Teatro Principal in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Baluarte Auditorium in Pamplona, the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria, the Sanctuary of Aránzazu, the La Merced Library in Cuenca, and the basilica of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

She has also been invited to participate in renowned festivals, including the San Sebastián Musical Fortnight, the Santander International Festival, and the Advent Cycle of Cuenca’s Religious Music Week. In 2023, she was awarded a scholarship by the Santander Encounter of Music and Academy, and in 2024, she received the prestigious Bayreuth scholarship granted by the Wagner Association of Berlin, with which she participated in a concert at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Her upcoming engagements include her soloist debut at Cuenca’s Religious Music Week, performing Mozart’s Requiem and Santiago de Pradas’ Miserere.
